California has the resources, yet too many people experience daily life as a narrowing set of choices. The cost of living and care takes time and freedom away from the people who have the least to spare. That is a policy problem, and it deserves a policy solution.
Where we began
Project Plenty grew from the successful 2025 California Democratic Party resolution, Democrats Support Economic Security for All. The resolution advanced living wages, stronger worker protections, affordable childcare, public education, housing, healthcare and a stronger social safety net.
It was proof that a grassroots cost-of-living agenda could move through California's Democratic infrastructure and earn institutional support. Project Plenty was created to carry that mandate forward.

Why now
The affordability crisis is often divided into separate debates about housing, wages, care, transportation and public services. Families do not experience those pressures separately.
They experience one household budget, one amount of time and one daily question: Can I afford to build a life here?
